Sports Achievements

Victories on the road- Sports

 

Heartians have built up their legend outside the academic field. They excel in many extra- curricular activities. Active participation in sports and clubs is much valued and encouraged here at SHC. 

Athletic.

  • The athletes of SHC gained 1st place in under 12, 14, 16,18 and 20 categories in the zonal athletic competitions in 2019 and 2018.
  • They also participated in the provincial and all island games during those years.
  • M. Shvetha Kaveeshi Samansiri gained the 3rd place in the 100 to 4m under 14 Girls relay race and the 2nd place in the under 14 girls high jump event in the zonal athletic meet, 2019.
  • She also managed to clinch the 3rd place of the under 14 100m event and the under 14 80m girls’ event in the zonal athletic meet, 2018.
  • Shvetha also gained the 3rd place in the Under 12 girls’ high jump event in the Southern Province School Games,2017.

 

Badminton

  • Dasithma Jayathilaka gained 1st place in the Under 17 Girl’s Singles 2021.
  • She participated in the Asian Junior Badminton Championship held in Indonesia in 2019
  • She also gained 2nd place in the Under 13 singles category of the Junior Nationals Badminton

 

Chess

 

  • The chess players of SHC competed in the Youth Asian Chess Championship in 2018.
  • They have participated in both all island and district level games.

Netball

  • A netball player of SHC was part of the team that won 3rd place in the Under 20 category of the International Netball tournament, 2016 held in Malaysia. Heartians participated in the Under 16 category of this contest.

 

  • The Netball team of SHC became 2nd runners up in All island Netball Tournament, 2017.

 

  • 1st place in zonal and provincial level Netball tournaments of 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 in the categories under 16,18 and 20.

Scrabble

  • Nonithma Dharmadasa, Sethmi Jayasinghe and Dinuli Premarathna represented Sri Lanka in the National Scrabble Youth team in WESPA Youth Cup 2021, held virtually from August 7th to 22nd . 

  • Sethmi Jayasinghe and Nonithma Dharmadasa were part of the National Scrabble youth team that became 2nd runner up in the Gladiators WESPA Youth Cup held virtually in 2020.
  • Kalpana Senevirathna and Dinuli Premarathna represented Sri Lanka for the National Youth team that became 1st runner up in the WESPA Youth Cup 2019 held from 29th of November to 1st of December in Malaysia.

  • The SHC Scrabble team became 1st runners up of Division A in the 26th All Island Inter School Scrabble Championship 2019, held at Lyceum International School, Nugegoda on October 26th

 

  • Heartians gained 1st place in the B division of the 25th All Island Interschool Scrabble Tournament 2018, held at Lyceum International School, Nugegoda.

 

  • Heartians became 2nd runners up in the under 15 category of ‘Royal Scrabbler 2017’ held on 11th of November 2017 at the Royal College Main Hall.

  • 1st place at the under 15 team event of the Southern Province Scrabble Championship 2018 held at Telford International School on 4th Match 2018. on 4th Match 2018.
  •  
  • 1st runners up at the under 15 team event of “ Royal Scrabbler 2018” held at the Royal College Main hall on the 9th of June 2018.

  • Nonithma Dharmadasa achieved 1st place for the Galle qualifier for the Under 18 event of the Sri Lanka Scrabble League 31st All Island Age Group Scrabble Championship in 2020. Sethmi Jayasinghe placed 3rd for the same event.

 

  • Dinuli Premarathna achieved 1st place in the Under 16 event of the Southern Province Scrabble Festival 2019,

 

  • Kimaya Mawananahewa achieved 2nd place for the Kandy qualifier for the Under 18 event of the Sri Lanka Scrabble League 30th All Island Age Group Scrabble Championship in 2019. Nonithma Dharmadasa placed 3rd of the same event

 

  • Sethmi Jayasinghe achieved 2nd place for the Colombo qualifier for the Under 18 event of the Sri Lanka Scrabble League 30th All Island Age Group Scrabble Championship in 2019.

 

  • Dinuli Premarathna achieved the first place in the Under 16 Provincial Scrabble Tournament 2018. Kalpana Senevirathna reached the 2nd place of the same event

 

  • Kalpana Senevirathna achieved the 1st place in the under 18 event of the Southern Province Scrabble Championship, 2018. Dinuli Premarathna gained the 2nd place in the under 12 event of the same tournament.

 

  • Dinuli achieved 1st place in the Under 13 event of Southern Province Scrabble Festival 2018. She also clinched the 3rd place in the Word Power Scrabble Challenge- Southern Zone, 2017.
